Melksham Nurseries / Nurseries in Melkshma - The City of Bath YMCA Little Fir Tree Nursery in Melksham...

We aim to provide high quality and affordable childcare and education for children from 3 months to 5 years within a positive and caring environment.
The Little Fir Tree Nursery opened in September 2005 as part of the Children’s Centre. In January 2008, Bath YMCA took on the management of the nursery in an agreement with the centre and Wiltshire County Council.
It is a modern nursery with exceptional facilities both inside and in the garden areas. It is conveniently located with easy access and parking for parents / carers dropping off & collecting their children. The low wooden design was purpose built and ensures that all areas are easily accessed by the children and there is plenty of natural light. It is a spacious nursery where children have plenty of room to make their own.
Our aim is to provide high quality childcare in an environment that recognises every child is unique and to cater for their individual needs. Our experienced and qualified staff are central to the success of our nursery. All babies and children have a key worker allocated to them and the key worker is responsible for the primary care of your child and the first access point for the parent. Information shared about your child will be held in absolute confidence.
We pride ourselves in how we promote and encourage children and staff to form relationships. One way we do this is by gathering together as a whole many times during the nursery day in our outdoor area. Children share activities with friends, relatives and staff from all rooms, which helps transition from room to room to become a more positive experience for your child.
Within the nursery we help all children to experience and learn a variety of skills appropriate to their stage of development. Activities are designed to be play centred and take place in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We want the nursery to be a home from home environment where your child will feel at ease and among friends and people who care about them. This helps promote self confidence, independence and a positive outlook which are important qualities for going on into school and later life.
The nursery is registered and inspected by the Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED). The most recent report is available to view on the OFSTED website: www.ofsted,gov.uk/reports.
The babies (3 -20 months) are in a beautiful sunny room with caring professional staff. The focus is on providing a stimulating and fun environment for the age group with planned games, toys and activities in place to enable the babies to learn through play. They also have a peaceful sleep room with glowing dragonflies hanging from the ceiling and dimmed lighting to help them fall quietly asleep. Outside, they have their own play area which is ideal for their age group.
There is a separate milk kitchen adjoining the babies’ room where bottles and food are prepared.
The toddlers are in the middle of the building in a large airy room with its own climbing frame. The planning is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and activities are fun and sometimes messy! The room is colourful and vibrant with lots of visual imagery and mobiles created by the children.
The toddlers have a home corner with dressing up, and they always have access to various materials, paints, sand and water. Independence and making their own choices are actively encouraged.
The children in the older rooms enjoy a variety of activities and learning following the Foundation Stage Curriculum with an emphasis on enjoying and achieving, personal, social and emotional development. The nursery has qualified teachers on site who oversee the planning for the Foundation Stage Curriculum and ensures its implementation to the benefit of all the children.
The learning is delivered through both child and adult initiated play. Whilst Rainbows helps prepare children for the transition to school, the emphasis is still very much on having fun and allowing the children the freedom to explore ideas and use their imagination.
The Children in Rainbow room are entitled to the Nursery Education Grant from the term following their third birthday and this enables your child to access five sessions of 2 ½ hours per week free of charge. The Grant is only applicable during school term time and is automatically applied for on your behalf.
The nusery is open 8.00am – 6.00pm Monday to Friday, 51 weeks a year.
The Nursery is closed on Bank Holidays , Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day and no charge is made for these days.
