Is the YMCA only for young people and men?

The YMCA welcomes visitors of all ages and gender.

Do I need to be a member of the YMCA to be able to stay?

You do not need to be a member to stay at the YMCA.

Can I book my accommodation in advance?

Yes, the YMCA recommends you book in advance especially at the weekends.

How can I pay for my accommodation?

Payment can be made by all major credit cards (not Amex) and bank transfer. Individual bookings will need to pay a deposit to hold the room when making the booking. Group bookings will be invoiced for the rooms required.

What facilities are available at the YMCA?

Our facilities are detailed on the website. We have areas in reception for sitting and relaxing where you can watch TV, a microwave is available when the restaurant is closed, laundry room with washers, dryers, iron and ironing board, bike racks at the front of the building. Our conservatory also has a pool table, football table wide screen TV and DVD player. Payable hot drinks machine, vending machines for snacks.
Our gym has up to date equipment with qualified friendly staff – a reduced day rate to use the gym is payable.

Is the YMCA open all day?

We have someone on reception 24 hours a day.

Is the YMCA open all year round?

Yes, we are open 365 days a year.

What is included in the price?

A continental breakfast is included in the room price.

What time can I arrive?

You can check into the YMCA after 2pm.

Can I arrive late at the YMCA?

If you have booked and paid for a room at the YMCA we suggest you state your time of arrival on booking or ring nearer the time to let us know. Groups that are arriving late please let us know when discussing your booking, staff are available 24 hours to allow check in and late arrivals for groups.

What time do I check out?

Check out time is 10.00 am.

Rooms at the YMCA?

Our rooms are single, twin, triple and quads, they are fitted with single or bunk beds, none of our rooms have en suite facilities. All rooms have a wash hand basin; we provide soap and tumbler for water. All beds have freshly laundered bed linen. Towels can be hired.

I have booked a dormitory what do I need?

We have dormitories of 10, 12, and 14 beds all have bunk beds. For group accommodation in dormitories we have a single room and bunk room for leaders that are located next to the dormitories for supervision. The dormitories do not have en suite facilities but you will find showers, toilets and washing facilities close to your room. We supply clean, laundered linen for all beds.

Can my group book a meal?

Our restaurant can provide packed lunches, evening meals or a full board package which includes: cooked breakfast, packed lunch and an evening meal at a very competitive price.

Can I take a pet to the YMCA during my stay?

No pets are allowed at any hostel with the exception of Assistance Dogs where the Reception Manager has been informed and an agreement made in advance.


On check in you will be issued a card with your name, room number and dates of your stay which you will be asked to sign. You will be asked to show this card each time you ask for your key at reception. If you lose your card you will be asked to show ID.

Where can I park when staying at the Bath YMCA?

The YMCA does not have the facility to provide parking for our customers. However, parking is available in the city centre at a variety of sites.

All parking in the centre of Bath through the day is for a limited amount of time and costs about £1.20 per hour. You can generally park overnight on the street from 7.00pm until 8.00am legally, in places that are free and close to the YMCA – however, you would need to refer to parking notices on each street / area.

The Council Website  gives details of all car parks and their appropriate charging. Our closest car park is in the Podium by Waitrose.

Coaches are advised to drop off at the Walcot Street entrance (next to Harvest Health Foods). Visitors should then make their way up the steep flight of steps to Broad Street Place where the YMCA Reception is clearly visible
